Board of Advisors

Amy Wheeler is currently VP for memberships at Learning Courage and a strategic partner in developing the vision for Learning Courage. Learning Courage, founded by survivor and businessman Jamie Forbes, helps school leaders reduce and effectively address sexual misconduct in their schools through compassion, integrity and clarity. Learning Courage helps schools have a survivor-centric, trauma informed and resiliency based approach to addressing the complex issues of sexual misconduct and abuse.

Amy has been an independent school educator and administrator for over 30 years. She began her career as an English teacher, dorm parent and coach at Lawrence Academy and understands the full life boarding school faculty and staff lead. Since then, she has worked as an administrator in K-8 day schools, 6-12 day schools, and a 6-12 all girls boarding school and knows well the impact of sexual misconduct on students, faculty, staff and institutions and the importance of training and prevention. Her experience on a number of independent school boards also gives her insight into the larger institutional issues that arise from both historic and current sexual misconduct on independent school campuses. During her career, Amy has been a tireless advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion whether through improving hiring and retention practices, advancing admission efforts to diversify the student body, or examining policies and procedures and school culture that perpetuate the systemic racism that pervades our society.
